I AM directed by the Earl of Crewe to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th instant, and to request you to inform Secretary Sir E. Grey that he concurs in the proposed reply to the American Ambassador with reference to the postponement of date of meeting of the International Opium Commission till the 1st February next. Lord Crewe would welcome a postponement to an even later date if the American Government could be induced to concur.
